listening to the sound of your life doppler away
full-timers sit around me doing who knows what (seems like they only goof off and talk on the phone all day) complaining about how their stock portfolios have done so poorly as of late. this one man imparticular is getting on my nerves, whining about his money and his assets. to quote rikimaru from tenchu:stealth assassins "your greed sickens me..." i think that works effectively to describe my feelings here. maybe it's just because i don't really need money at the moment, or because i'm not very materialistic except for collecting music/books, that i feel so antagonistic toward these people. i've found if you live simply, you don't need much to live on. with a good deal of disregard for much of modern appliance/technology (i know, i'm a hypocrite computer programmer) i don't see why people need 400 channels of tv, or even tv for that matter. computers are just a distraction, or a useful tool for meeting people to talk to momentarily, before one of us fades out of cyberexistence. sure, microwaves are convenient, but necessary? i seem to complain alot, and never amend anything i mention. just a lot of hot air. so, while i complain and whine about how miserable my existence is, it passes me by, for i have no control over time. time controls me with ease. |
