certain things happen during your lifetime that just seem to make sense, to go well together.  for instance, this past summer a certain album was essentially the 'soundtrack' to that period in my life, for some unkown reason why.  whenever i listen to it now, i think of numerous hours spent in a cubicle, drives home, and friday afternoons waiting for the weekend to arrive.  it makes me think that work over the summer was not as awful as i made it out to be, but now i'm looking at my internship with jaded eyes, just like i was of returning to university during the summer.  in reality, both are relatively boring, although work was much less stressful and time consuming, and therefore better in my eyes.
during the summer, even though i was alone on average 23 hours of each day, it didn't really seem like it.  work kept my mind occupied nearly eight hours a day, while driving to and from work usually took up about another hour.  when i got home, i would lose myself in a book, completely, or exercise.  on rare days, i'd do something with friends or watch some random dvd, or both.  it wasn't the most exciting lifestyle, nor was it great.  when i'm in university, i have too much time to think about being alone.  when i do homework, my thoughts tend to drift towards more...melancholic material.  i think this is often a reason why i'm always miserable during college.  today in physics lecture two people were being very..."fond"... of each other.  it angered me slightly, but then i realized that lecture is extremely boring and accepted their actions.  then i became angry again because they both will probably end up getting better grades in the subject than me.  on the way back from classes i saw the girl that i was infatuated with over the summer with her friends.  i thought one of them made reference to me, but i'm quite positive that it was my imagination.  even if it wasn't, it wouldn't matter anyway.
i have an exam for my computer science course this thursday, that i don't think i'll do well on.  i'm going home on friday.  it's been over a month since last time.  i wonder if things will seem...different at all.  most likely not.  it's been a rather mundane week.
on the third day of classes, i smashed a fruit fly to the glass of one of my windows.  the fly is still sitting there.  i don't think it's ever going to vanish.
